Depression: 19-year-old AIIMS Rishikesh MBBS student allegedly commits suicide by jumping off 6th Floor
The deceased left no suicide note behind. The college authorities alleged that Rajat was suffering from depression due to his poor academic performance as he failed in two subjects.
Haridwar: Depression is a challenging condition and becomes harder when one cannot set them free of itself just like in the case of a second-year MBBS student who has committed suicide by jumping off the sixth floor of the All India Institute of Medical Sciences in Rishikesh.
The deceased has been identified as 19-year-old Rajat Mund, a resident of Ganga Nagar, Rajasthan.
Soon after the fall, he was rushed to the ER ward of the hospital where he breathed his last and was declared dead by the doctors.
Following the incident, police came to the spot and started investigating the witnesses of the incident. They stated that the student was suffering from depression and unable to bear it any longer, he decided to take the big step.

Harish Thapliyal, public relations officer, AIIMS-Rishikesh, told TOI, "Recently, Rajat had to be admitted to the psychiatry ward of AIIMS-Rishikesh as he was suffering from depression and other mental health issues. Later, on May 19, he was discharged from the ward. We have informed his family of the death. As he was a second-year student, we can rule out the 'ragging angle'. Besides, our fee is just Rs 750 per month, so, a financial burden also couldn't be the reason behind his suicide."
The deceased left no suicide note behind. The college authorities alleged that Rajat was suffering from depression due to his poor academic performance as he failed in two subjects.

However, the police have yet to register the case but they have started an investigation to ascertain the real reason behind his suicide. Following the collection of forensic evidence and samples, the police secured the accident site.
As per the cops, the result of the post-mortum will help them to fill the gap in the case.
