Doctor, two others booked for allegedly beating nurse and stealing her phone

Thane: A doctor working at Life Care Hospital who hired two accomplices have been arrested by the Ulhasnagar police for allegedly beating a female nurse and later stealing her phone on the suspicion that she had some obscene pictures and could blackmail the doctor later.

The doctor has been identified as Dr. Shahabuddin Khan and the duo are 23-year-old Sarauddin Khan and 30-year-old Asharad Khan.

For the past three years, the nurse has been working under the doctor at Life Care Hospital in Ulhasnagar. It was usually a working day but the nurse took leave on that day April 4. The doctor hired three people who pretended to be the hospital staff and made contact with her requesting her to immediately come to the hospital on April 10. After convincing her, the trio beat her and allegedly snatched her phone when she got near the hospital, the police officials told HT.

The doctor was suspicious of the fact that the nurse was storing obscene photos on her phone and planned to blackmail him later.

After witnessing physical abuse, the nurse later lodged a complaint on April 10 against the three people who beat her and stole her phone. After the case was registered police nabbed those thieves and found while investigating that Dr. Shahabuddin Khan was behind the action.

According to a Ulhasnagar police officer, "During interrogation, the accused revealed that Dr Shahabuddin Khan had given them ₹10,000 to attack the nurse and seized her phone to check if she had some obscene pictures of him. Accordingly, the accused did the same. We arrested the doctor and two accused on Sunday in the case while one other person is still absconding."
