Gandhinagar woman accuses man posing as doctor of assault, threatening to leak photos

Ahmedabad: A 35-year-old woman has filed a police complaint in Gujarat’s Gandhinagar district, accusing a man she met on social media of posing as doctor, assaulting her, threatening to circulate their intimate photographs and videos, and issuing death threats after she decided to end their relationship.
According to the complaint lodged at Infocity police station on November 1, the accused had allegedly introduced himself as a doctor and claimed to reside in Odhav. The woman, who lives in Ahmedabad with her elderly parents, met him online in October 2024. At the time, she was going through divorce proceedings following her marriage in 2023.
The two subsequently entered into a consensual physical relationship. However, the woman alleged that problems began around six months later when she declined to meet him.
Following this, the accused allegedly threatened to make their intimate photographs and videos public and repeatedly pressured her to send additional nude pictures.
According to TOI, she had previously approached the city women’s police station over the alleged harassment. Following the intervention, the man reportedly apologised and assured her that he would delete the photographs and videos. The matter was settled at that stage, according to the complaint.
The latest confrontation allegedly took place on October 23, when the man contacted her and insisted on meeting her one last time. They met around 5 pm in a lane near Swagat Holiday Mall in Sargasan. The woman had arrived in a car with friends, while the accused was travelling in a sedan.
Questioning her decision to end the relationship, he allegedly held her forcibly, used abusive language and slapped her multiple times. The woman told police she was pushed to the ground and kicked in the abdomen. She said he snatched her car keys and has not returned them. Before her friends, he allegedly threatened to kill her if she approached police or refused to continue the relationship, TOI reported.
She further alleged that he took the keys to her car and refused to return them. In front of her friends, he also threatened to kill her if she approached the police or refused to continue the relationship.
Police have received the complaint detailing the allegations. The claims are yet to be established through investigation.
