Goa doctor booked for allegedly sexually harassing patient at clinic
Panaji: In a shocking incident, a 77-year-old doctor has been booked for allegedly sexually harassing a 27-year-old woman in Margao in Goa, a police official said on Saturday.
The woman has said in her complaint that he molested her during a medical checkup on August 16, the official informed.
According to her, the septuagenarian doctor molested her after asking her to take off her clothes.
It has emerged that the complainant was suffering from a fever and decided to visit the doctor at his clinic at 9.30 pm. As per a media report in TOI, the woman was touched inappropriately by the doctor while he was examining her.
Shocked and terrified by the situation, the woman ran out of the clinic and approached the police.
A complaint was filed against the doctor and he was booked under Section 354 A (sexual harassment) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).
He is yet to be arrested and would be summoned for questioning as part of the probe, the Margao police station official said.
Further investigation into the case is underway.
Medical Dialogues team had earlier reported that in a shocking incident, a doctor was booked for allegedly sexually assaulting a nurse on the pretext of marriage in Bhopal's Sukhi Sewania. The nurse is a 40-year-old woman who worked at the doctor's private hospital when she was subject to sexual assault. The complaint was made under section 376 (rape) and other relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) after the woman who used to work under the doctor reported that she was allegedly raped and also became a victim of blackmailing. The nurse was working alone at the hospital when the doctor allegedly raped her.
