PMCH orthopaedician narrowly escapes as car bursts into flames

Patna: In a tragic incident, an orthopaedic specialist from Patna Medical College and Hospital (PMCH) narrowly escaped death after his car caught fire.

Dr Saurav Kumar, who was about to drive home toward Boring Road he suddenly smelled something unusual just after switching on his car engine. He then got out of the vehicle, and within minutes, the car burst into flames.

The incident occurred on Wednesday near PMCH on the JP Ganga Path elevated road. After the fire broke out, thick black smoke rose nearly 30 feet into the air and engulfed the entire hospital building.

According to the analysis, as reported by Bhaskar, the car caught on fire due to a possible diesel leak. It has been reported that due to the leak, the engine burst into flames as soon as it started.

The sudden fire created panic in the area, leading to a 3-kilometre traffic jam on Ganga Path. Shortly after, the fire brigade arrived at the scene, having received information, and brought the fire under control.

No injuries were reported, and the doctor is alive.

Medical Dialogues had reported that two third-year MBBS students of SN Medical College lost their lives in a road accident near the Inter-State Bus Terminus (ISBT) on National Highway 19 connecting Agra and Delhi. One MBBS student was from Agra, while the other was from Hardoi, both in Uttar Pradesh. The students were 22-year-old MBBS students from SN Medical College.
