Quack arrested after wrong jab kills teenage boy in MP

Khargone: In a tragic incident, a class 11 student from a government hostel in Balakwada, Khargone district, died allegedly after being administered an injection by a quack. The accused, who was running an illegal clinic without any valid medical degree or registration, has been arrested and sent to judicial custody.
According to the news reports, the deceased had developed fever, cough, and cold symptoms on Tuesday evening. He was taken by hostel staff to a nearby clinic for treatment. The officials mentioned that the unlicensed practitioner administered injections, after which the student’s condition worsened rapidly. He collapsed at the clinic and was rushed to the district hospital, where doctors declared him dead.

Speaking to TOI, Balakwada police station in-charge, Ritesh Yadav said, “After Chauhan administered him an injection, Suresh fainted, on which Chauhan drove him to the district hospital, but on the way, seeing his condition worsen, he made an excuse that there was no fuel in his vehicle and fled."
The student's death has sparked widespread outrage among students and the local community.
Police officials said the body was sent for a post-mortem before being handed over to the family. Cremation was carried out on Wednesday afternoon, Balakawada police station in-charge Ritesh Yadav confirmed, reports the Medbound Times.
In response to the incident, the Assistant Commissioner for Tribal Welfare, Iqbal Hussain Adil, directed the Block Education Officer of Maheshwar to submit a comprehensive report within three days. Meanwhile, the hostel warden has been relieved of his duties pending the outcome of the inquiry.
Mandleshwar SDOP Shweta Shukla confirmed that the quack was arrested on Friday and presented in court, after which he was remanded to judicial custody. She further stated that the Block Medical Officer (BMO) and the tehsildar of Kasrawad had raided the clinic and seized allopathic medicines. Their investigation revealed that the quack did not possess any formal medical qualifications or registration to practice medicine.

According to TOI, "The BMO stated in his inquiry report that Chauhan did not have any degree or registration, and on the basis of this report, the police registered a case under section 105 of BNS and 15(2)(b) of National Medical Commission Act, 2019, late Thursday," she said.
On Thursday, student organisations staged protests at the Kasrawad tehsil office and the Balakwada police station, demanding the quack’s immediate arrest and a formal investigation into the incident.
