Rajasthan Resident Doctors Unpaid for Months, Demand Stipend Release

Jaipur: Resident doctors working in various government medical colleges under the Rajasthan Medical Education Society (RajMES) have allegedly not received their stipends for several months, leaving many in deep financial and emotional distress.
Despite working around the clock in hospitals and serving hundreds of patients daily, these doctors have alleged that they haven't been paid for up to eight or nine months. The issue affects both new and senior batches of MD, MS, and DNB resident doctors.
The doctors, through various associations, have been raising the issue of pending stipends, but the government is yet to take action in this regard.

Associations like All Rajasthan RajMES Resident Doctors Association (ARRRDA), Resident Doctors Association (RDA) of Government Medical College Pali and Doctor's Welfare Federation-India (DWF) have written to the authorities.
According to the letters submitted to RajMES, the 2023 batch of resident doctors has not received payment for the last 4–5 months, while the newly joined 2024 batch hasn’t been paid at all since their posting began.
"As you are well aware, resident doctors are the backbone of the healthcare system. Despite not being paid, they continue to serve poor patients day and night with dedication. This situation is deeply disheartening and demoralising for them. The ongoing situation has led to extreme financial and psychological distress among the resident doctors," the letter by RDA reads.
Further, DWF mentioned, "Repeated letters and requests have been submitted by various Resident Doctors' Associations (RDAs), but unfortunately, no action has been taken so far."
In their communications to the authorities, the doctors have urged immediate intervention. They have requested that pending stipends be released without further delay and that necessary budgetary approvals be granted to avoid such issues in the future.
