Tamil Nadu: Nurse attempts suicide, doctor booked for misbehaviour
Thoothukudi: In an unfortunate incident, a 24-year-old nurse associated with a private hospital in Kovilpatti tried to take her life at her residence after the hospital denied her harassment allegation against a doctor at the hospital.
The suspect has been identified as Dr Murali aged 50. As per the victim's statement, the doctor misbehaved with her at the hospital. Police booked the doctor on Tuesday.
According to the hospital authorities, she lied and her claim was a hoax. She was terminated from her position after notifying them.

The incident took place after the victim recently joined the hospital and while she was on duty hours, the doctor allegedly misbehaved with her but to no avail as the hospital accused her of defaming a well-known doctor. The authorities denied her allegation stating that the doctor had no motive to harass her.
Following the attempted suicide, she was immediately rushed to a government hospital in Kovilpatti. The family members of the nurse had to wait and fight for her daughter's life as the doctors at the hospital hesitated to admit her due to the presence of the suspect's wife.

Later, when the family members tried to file a complaint at the police station, the police refused. Based on the direction of SP L Balaji Saravanan, the case was registered and FIR has been lodged against the suspect on Tuesday night after the family members informed him of the matter, TNIE report.
