Telangana begins termination proceedings against 38 assistant Professors
Hyderabad: Taking strict action against doctors for long term "unauthorised absence" in various institutes, Director of Medical Education, Telangana has begun termination proceedings against 38 assistant Professors.
The enquiry committee constituted to look into the matter has already recommended their termination and with this the department has now issued show-cause notices to the 38 doctors asking them to submit their explanations as to why they shouldn't be terminated from service.
DME Telangana has further clarified in the order that "If no reply is received from the individual within stipulated time, it shall be construed that he/she has no explanation to offer and their services will be treated as Terminated from date of unauthorised absence.
The list of 38 doctors, against whom the show-cause notices have been issued, includes 4 Asst Prof of OBG, 1 of Pathology, 3 of pharmacology, 5 of Anesthesia, 2 of Pediatric Surgery, 1 of Surgery, 1 of pediatrics, 1 of Pathology, 2 of General Medicine, 2 of General Surgery, 2 of Nephrology, 3 of Neurology, 2 of Radiology, 1 of Psychiatry, 1 of Opthalmology, 1 of Radio-diagnosis, 1 of Medical Oncology, 1 of Micro Biology, 1 of CT Surgery, 1 of Endocrinology, and 1 of Orthopedics.
This comes after the DME Telangana took note of the fact that a total number of 43 doctors were on Unauthorised absence in the various institutions.
Accordingly, the Government had issued Show Cause Notices for Termination of Services. An Enquiry Committee was also constituted providing an opportunity to approach the authorities for submitting explanation and rejoining to duties.
Following this, the Enquiry Committee submitted their report within the stipulated time recommending for termination of services of the 38 Doctors.
Taking note of the same, the DME Telangana in the order dated 28.12.2021 mentioned, "In view of the above the following (38) Doctors are liable for termination as per provisions under Rule 5 B Telangana Leave Rules 1933 read with GO Ms. No 128 Finance (FR-I) Dept dated 01.06.2007 and Rule 10 (e) of Telangana State and Subordinate Service Rules 1996."
"Hence the Doctors mentioned below are herewith directed to submit their explanations, if any within (7) Days as to why their services may not be terminated with immediate effect. If no reply is received from the individual within stipulated time, it shall be construed that he/she has no explanation to offer and their services will be treated as Terminated from date of unauthorised absence," further mentioned the order.
Directing the concerned Head of the Institutes to communicate the order to the Official permanent address of the concerned doctors, the order also added, "Further the above list shall be published in the Telangana Gazette, 3 leading Newspapers and on the Official Director of Medical Education website: dmer.telangana.gov.in."
