Viral video of doctor, patients' kin dispute at Ambah Civil Hospital surfaces

Ambah: A video purportedly showing a dispute between a female doctor and the relatives of three accident victims at Ambah Civil Hospital in Morena district, Madhya Pradesh, has gone viral on social media.
The incident reportedly took place on Wednesday night when three accident victims were undergoing treatment at the hospital.
According to the viral video, the female doctor can allegedly be seen walking away from the treatment area following an argument with the patients’ relatives. The patients’ family members alleged that the doctor had asked them to bring the injured patients to her for examination.
According to the relatives, the exchange over the examination led to an argument between the two sides, following which the doctor allegedly left the treatment area while the injured patients were still undergoing treatment.
The patients’ relatives later verbally complained about the incident to the Block Medical Officer (BMO), seeking action over the doctor’s alleged conduct.
The incident has since gone viral on social media, prompting a debate over doctors’ safety and their responsibility towards patients during confrontations with attendants.
Several doctors and social media users defended the doctor’s decision to leave the scene, arguing that healthcare professionals can face threats and violence from patients’ attendants and should be able to remove themselves from potentially unsafe situations.
In a post on X, Dr D, MD, DM, said the doctor had asked the relatives to bring the patients to her and argued that this indicated she was willing to examine them. The post added that the situation could be different if a patient was seriously injured or unable to move.
Another user similarly argued that doctors should be able to remove themselves from situations where they perceive a risk of violence or unnecessary legal complications. Doctor and medico-social activist Nachiket Bhatia also expressed support for the doctor, citing concerns over violence against medical professionals.
However, some social media users raised concerns about the impact of the incident on patient care. They questioned whether injured patients should be left without medical attention because of an argument involving their relatives and maintained that patient treatment should remain a priority.
