Andhra Pradesh allocates Rs 27 crore for 50-bed Integrated AYUSH Hospitals across 6 districts

Vijayawada: Health Minister Y Satya Kumar Yadav, on the eve of National Ayurveda Day, announced a major funding push to strengthen Andhra Pradesh’s traditional healthcare infrastructure, with allocations for government Ayurvedic hospitals, dispensaries and educational institutions.
According to the news reports, the minister, speaking under the national theme “Ayurveda for a Healthy Tomorrow,” said the government would focus on modernising government Ayurvedic hospitals and dispensaries, upgrading medical education infrastructure and expanding access to free healthcare services in rural and urban areas.
The State government has sanctioned Rs 27 crore to build 50-bed integrated AYUSH hospitals and procure equipment in six districts. The State has also allocated Rs 4.11 crore for infrastructure and maintenance at the integrated AYUSH hospital in Visakhapatnam, and Rs 1.50 crore for Kakinada.
More than Rs 46.23 crore was earmarked to upgrade dispensaries, including civil works, equipment, furniture and digital networking. Funds were allocated for free medicines, Panchakarma centres and an Akshi Tarpana pilot at NRS Hospital, Vijayawada, TNIE reported.
The government will also strengthen medical education infrastructure through allocations for Ayurveda colleges in Kakinada, Dharmavaram and Vijayawada.
Funds have additionally been sanctioned for de-addiction centres and an AYUSH Sports Medicine Centre as part of efforts to expand specialised traditional healthcare services.
Several welfare-oriented programmes have also received allocations. The government has sanctioned Rs 6.50 crore for the ‘Ayur Vidya’ programme, Rs 62.40 lakh for ‘Vayo Mitra’, Rs 2.05 crore for specialised geriatric care and Rs 8.50 lakh for ‘Supraja’ prenatal and neonatal services.
The initiatives are aimed at strengthening the availability of AYUSH services and expanding access to traditional healthcare across Andhra Pradesh.
Medical Dialogues had previously reported that audits and awareness programmes will be conducted across all district and teaching hospitals in Andhra Pradesh on September 17 to mark World Patient Safety Day, Health Minister Y Satya Kumar Yadav said.
