Hyderabad: ESIC Medical College rolls out New Online Recruitment Portal
Hyderabad: A new secure and transparent form of online recruitment portal has been set up by ESIC Medical College Hospital, Erragadda, in association with IIT-Hyderabad, which provides immediate feedback to the applicant for its next stage of hiring.
The Ministry of Labour and Employment secretary Sunil Barthwal launched the project with which the recruitment portal of the medical college went 'live', reports the Hindu. It enables an auto-filling of the applications with an incorporated scoring system to help efficient filtering mechanism based on the needs of the position advertised.

Through the portal, one can do real-time calculations of scores, age, etc. based on inputs given by the applicants, multiple applications screening of applicants in one go, and data retrieval anytime. The process would make the initial conventional recruitment system easier, where an advertisement is issued followed by snail mailing of applications, physical verification, scrutiny and so on.
The authorities said, "This portal saves time, effort and money with a one-time investment. With minimal modifications, successive recruitments can be done in future."
The college has a capacity of 125 undergraduates and post-graduates in all specialities, and has a sanctioned faculty strength of 220, but has been functioning with only around 25% capacity with the last contract recruitment done in March 2018.
The recruitments for the posts on contract basis are done twice a year because of faculty doctors opting out for higher studies, better employment opportunities or for going abroad. However, the authorities said that the intake of competent faculty is imperative considering that there are an average of 2,500 out-patients and most of the 800 beds are occupied on any given day.
The shortlisting of candidates is done on the basis of the NEET score, experience and the total score with the interview conducted by chairperson, subject experts (sourced from government external institutions) and various observers chosen randomly, with the marks being collated at the end and the results getting uploaded the same day.
The Dean Dr M. Srinivas told the Hindu, "The entire process of recruitment is recorded at every stage to ensure transparency. We are keen to recruit only the best, qualified doctors for running our patientcare services and academic programmes even if for a short duration." He added that the portal is being tried at the college on a pilot basis and is expected to be used in all ESIC hospitals across the country.
