Rainbow Children's Hospital opens advanced paediatric ENT care centre

Chennai- Rainbow Children's Hospital has announced the launch of a specialised centre dedicated to the diagnosis, treatment, and long-term management of hearing, airway, and sleep-related disorders in children.
The centre, named the 'Advanced Centre for Pediatric ENT Care' (ACENT), will bring together the expertise of pediatric ENT specialists, advanced technology, and a range of specialised services to treat complex ENT (Ear, Nose, and Throat) conditions in newborns, young children, and adolescents.
According to the hospital statement, conditions like hearing loss, respiratory tract abnormalities, frequent ear infections and difficulty breathing during sleep in children often go unrecognised and can affect children's speech, learning ability, physical development and overall development. The new centre aims to address this gap.
According to The Hindu report, the centre was inaugurated in the presence of renowned playback singer Saindhavi and Suresh Kumar M., Senior Consultant and Coordinator of the ENT Department at KIMSHEALTH, Thiruvananthapuram. Facility Director Gunasekhar C. and Pediatric ENT Consultant Nithya R. also attended the event.
Since the launch of ACENT, it has become the city's first specialised centre for the screening, treatment, and long-term care of hearing, airway, and sleep-related issues in children.
Notably, ACENT is the first centre in Chennai to utilise an ultra-thin 1.2 mm pediatric endoscope for airway assessment in newborns and young children without the need for anaesthesia.
This technique enables physicians to safely examine even the smallest airways in an outpatient setting, facilitating early diagnosis and timely intervention for complex ENT conditions.
Speaking in this regard, Mr Gunasekhar C, Facility Director, Rainbow Children’s Hospital, Chennai, said, “At Rainbow Children’s Hospital, our focus has always been on delivering specialised pediatric care backed by advanced technology and multidisciplinary expertise. The launch of ACENT reinforces our commitment to providing children with access to dedicated ENT care under one roof. From diagnosis and treatment to recovery and rehabilitation, every aspect of the centre has been designed around the unique needs of children and their families”.
