Sonkatch Civil Hospital staff accused of demanding money during deliveries

Bribery Case
Sonkatch: Civil Hospital Sonkatch in Madhya Pradesh has come under scrutiny following allegations that some staff members demanded money from families of pregnant women during deliveries.
According to the news reports, staff members posted in the maternity ward allegedly asked relatives for payments during childbirth procedures. On Saturday night, families of three pregnant women claimed that hospital staff collected Rs 2,000 each in the name of delivery charges.

After receiving information about the alleged collection of money, members of the Rogi Kalyan Samiti, along with local BJP leaders, reached the hospital and interacted with the affected families.
The representatives reportedly confronted the hospital staff and asked them to return the money collected from the relatives. Following the intervention, the staff allegedly refunded the amount to the families.
A video related to the incident has gone viral on social media platforms, further intensifying criticism of the hospital administration and raising questions over practices inside government healthcare institutions.
The viral video has led to widespread calls for accountability and disciplinary action against the employees involved.
Speaking to Free Press Journal, Block Medical Officer Anil Rao said he would report the matter to higher authorities, and action would be taken against those found guilty.
The incident has renewed concerns about transparency and oversight in government healthcare facilities.
Medical Dialogues had previously reported that in a shocking incident, a contractual orthopaedic surgeon at Gujarat’s Anand General Hospital was arrested by the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) for allegedly demanding and accepting a bribe to perform a surgery that was supposed to be conducted free of cost. The arrest followed a complaint lodged at the Anand ACB police station by a local resident, who alleged that the doctor had sought money to perform a finger surgery on his friend.
