Telangana announces infrastructure revamp for Osmania Medical College Hospitals

Osmania Hospital Network to Undergo Transformation
Hyderabad: Telangana Health Minister Damodar Rajanarsimha has directed officials to prepare detailed proposals for the comprehensive modernisation of the hospitals affiliated with Osmania Medical College (OMC), one of India’s most prestigious medical institutions.
The directive, issued on Tuesday, aimed at upgrading the infrastructure and creating state-of-the-art facilities in the government teaching hospitals.
Highlighting the college's unmatched legacy, the minister said, “Osmania Medical College holds a distinction unmatched by any other institution in the country, with ten attached hospitals under its wing.”

Medical Dialogues had previously reported that the Telangana Health Department announced the appointment of principals and superintendents for all 34 government medical colleges and their affiliated teaching hospitals across the state. While several colleges already had appointed heads in place, the remaining vacancies were filled through a Government Order (GO) issued by Health Secretary Christina Z. Chongthu. The order formalises the temporary promotion of a panel of 44 senior faculty members, including special grade professors and professors, as Additional Directors of Medical Education (ADME) and institutional heads.
The government has nearly completed the promotion process for 308 associate professors to full professors, which will resolve the shortage of department heads and senior faculty across government institutions.
