NTPC Invites Applications for 40 Assistant Chemist Trainee Posts

The online application process will begin on June 26, 2026, and conclude on July 10, 2026.
New Delhi: NTPC Limited has invited applications for the recruitment of 40 Assistant Chemist Trainee (ACT) posts under Advertisement No. 09/26. The online application process will commence on June 26, 2026, and remain open until July 10, 2026 through the company's official careers portal.
According to the notification, the recruitment offers regular appointments for eligible candidates with an M.Sc. in Chemistry to join India's largest integrated power utility. Selected candidates will undergo a one-year training programme before being posted at NTPC stations, projects, joint ventures or subsidiaries across the country based on organisational requirements.
A total of 40 vacancies have been notified, comprising 17 posts for the Unreserved (UR) category, four for Economically Weaker Sections (EWS), 10 for Other Backward Classes (OBC), six for Scheduled Castes (SC), and three for Scheduled Tribes (ST).
Applicants must possess a regular/full-time M.Sc. in Chemistry from a recognised Indian university or institute approved by the appropriate statutory authority. Candidates belonging to the General, EWS and OBC categories must have secured at least 60% aggregate marks in M.Sc. Chemistry, while SC, ST and Persons with Benchmark Disabilities (PwBD) candidates are eligible with passing marks. Final-year or final-semester students expecting their results on or before July 31, 2026, are also eligible to apply, provided they produce the final degree or provisional certificate by the prescribed date. Only Indian nationals are eligible to apply.
The maximum age limit is 27 years for General and EWS candidates. Age relaxation of five years is applicable for SC/ST candidates, three years for OBC (Non-Creamy Layer) candidates, 10 years for PwBD candidates, while ex-servicemen will be eligible for age relaxation as per Government of India rules. Interested candidates can apply online through the NTPC careers portal by registering with a valid email ID, completing the application form with personal, educational and category details, uploading the required documents, paying the application fee wherever applicable, verifying all information and submitting the application before the closing date.
The application fee has been fixed at Rs 500 for candidates belonging to the General, EWS and OBC categories. However, SC, ST, PwBD, ex-servicemen and female candidates are exempted from payment of the application fee.
The selection process will consist of an All India Online Selection Test comprising a Subject Knowledge Test and an Executive Aptitude Test. Candidates must qualify separately in both components to be considered for further stages. Those shortlisted will subsequently undergo document verification followed by a medical examination conducted by the NTPC Medical Board.
Adda247 reports that as per the recruitment notification, selected candidates will be appointed in the E0 Grade with a pay scale of Rs 30,000-1,20,000, including a basic pay of Rs 30,000, along with dearness allowance, perquisites and terminal benefits as per NTPC rules. They will undergo one year of training and may be posted at any NTPC station, project, joint venture or subsidiary across India based on organisational requirements. Selected candidates will also be required to execute a service bond of Rs 2.5 lakh for General/EWS/OBC candidates and Rs 1.25 lakh for SC/ST/PwBD candidates.
