Prescribing drugs available outside govt hospital: FIR ordered against UP Doctor
In a stringent view, the DM further directed Dr BN Jaiswal, Chief Medical Officer(CMO) to initiate a probe against the medical store and warned the doctors not to force patients to buy medicine from outside the hospital, adding that violating the aforesaid would draw strict actions.
Bahraich: A government doctor posted at Payagpur Community Health Centre (CHC) is in a soup as Shambhu Kumar, District Magistrate (DM) ordered FIR against the medical practitioner for allegedly prescribing medicines to patients to be brought from the market which otherwise should have been mandatorily provided in the hospital itself.
In a stringent view, the DM further directed Dr B N Jaiswal, Chief Medical Officer (CMO) to initiate a probe against the medical store and warned the doctors not to force patients to buy medicine from outside the hospital, adding that violating the aforesaid would draw strict actions.
This came following a surprise inspection that was conducted at the health centre on November 30 2019.
During the inspection, a patient was standing there with a wad of notes in her hand. On interrogating the patient, it was found that she was waiting for her son, who went out to the local market to purchase medicines. Soon after, the man returned and it was informed that the government doctor had prescribed medicines to the patient that was available outside the hospital.
As per a recent report in Nav Bharat Times, the authorities sought more information regarding the services and medicines provided at the CHC. However, the patients complained about the medical practitioner prescribing medicines only available in a particular pharmacy in the market and not the hospital.
