18-year-old NEET aspirant dies by suicide in Patna

Suicide
Patna: In a tragic incident, an 18-year-old student preparing for NEET allegedly committed suicide by hanging himself from the ceiling fan in his rented accommodation in southern Shivpuri, Patna.
Although the police have confirmed it to be a case of suicide, the exact reason behind his decision remains unclear, as the note found in his room did not mention what led him to take the extreme step.
In his suicide note as quoted by TOI, the student said, "Mummy and Papa, don't trouble Didi, and Chiku. Let them both do what they want. Also tell uncle not to pressurise them. Both of you stay happy. Your Kitu."

He was staying in Patna with his cousin while studying for his intermediate exams and simultaneously preparing for NEET. He was the eldest son and was survived by his younger brother and elder sister.
The incident came to light when the student's cousin informed the police about his death. Upon receiving the information, the police arrived and called the forensic team for investigation.
After this, the police conducted a preliminary investigation and brought down his body from the ceiling fan. They then sent his body for a postmortem and registered a case in this regard.
"Police registered an unnatural death case based on the family's application. Further investigation is underway to determine the circumstances that led to the tragic incident," he told TOI
Medical Dialogues had previously reported that shortly after the release of the NEET 2025 answer key, a medical aspirant who appeared for the entrance test committed suicide. The tragic incident occurred in the Maharajpura police station area of Gwalior, Madhya Pradesh. The medical aspirant reportedly took his own life upon realising that his exam marks were insufficient to secure admission.
The officer confirmed that the young man had been struggling with the realisation that his performance did not meet expectations. Conversations about his exam results and performance seemed to weigh heavily on him, ultimately leading to this tragic decision.
