Bihar MBBS admission fraud: Man duped of Rs 5.75 lakh, complaint filed against medical college prinicipal
Bihar: In a medical admission fraud case, a young man was duped of Rs 5.75 lakh on the pretext of securing him an MBBS seat at a medical college in Bihar.
On this, the man has filed a complaint against the principal of a Bihar based Medical College.
According to the complainant, his friend, a doctor, received a call on February 16 from the accused, who allegedly introduced himself as the principal of the Medical College. He told him about a staffing need at his college.
Then, on February 21st, the man who identified as the principal informed the doctor that the college had a vacant MBBS seat. If he wished, he could send someone from his family to study at a medical college in Bihar. The matter reached the complainant who then contacted the accused to arrange for his daughter to pursue MBBS.
The man was then asked to send four lakh rupees to reserve a seat at the college. He transferred two installments of 25 thousand rupees and 3.75 lakh rupees on February 21st. He was then asked to come to Patna on February 22nd to collect his allotment letter.
Upon arriving, the accused made them wait until evening, but no one came. The doctor then sent a message demanding another 3.50 lakh rupees. With his daughter's future in mind, he transferred 1.75 lakh rupees to the account provided by his brother.
So far, a total of ₹5.75 lakh has been extorted from him. Later, realising he was duped, the man filed a complaint.
Meanwhile, Kalyanpur Inspector Santosh Singh said that based on the complaint, a report has been filed against Dr. RB Gupta, Principal of Katihar Medical College in Bihar, according to AmarUjala.
