PGI starts conducting interviews to recruit senior residents
Chandigarh: Following the demand of the resident doctors to appoint more doctors to serve in the emergency wards, the Post Graduate Institute of Medical Education and Research (PGI), Chandigarh authorities have now issued notifications to recruit senior residents on an ad hoc basis in different departments. The departments to offer vacancies for senior residents include Departments of Internal Medicine, Orthopaedics, Paediatric Gastroenterology and hepatology.
PGI has already conducted walk-in interviews for recruiting senior residents to fill in 5 vacant posts in the Department of Internal Medicine on 28th February. The Department of Orthopaedics has directed the candidates to submit their application along with testimonials and a recent passport-size photo to the HoD of the department by 7th March and interviews will be conducted the next day at 3 PM to fill in 2 vacant posts.
The department of paediatric gastroenterology invited applications for the post of one senior resident and interested candidates have been directed to submit their application along with biodata and relevant testimonials by email at sadhanalal2014@gmail.com by the 2nd of March. The interview for the same will be conducted on 3rd March at 11:30 a.m. in the office of the head of the department.
A few days ago the resident doctors had staged an agitation in front of the director's office and demanded the deployment of security staff and resident doctors. This came after a resident doctor working at Post Graduate Institute of Medical Education and Research (PGI), Chandigarh became a punching bag to a grieving attendant after he was slapped by a lady on the demise of her mother. Though the doctor did not file an FIR against her, the Association of Resident Doctors has demanded a formal apology.
Dr Rahul, president of the Association of Resident Doctors, PGI stated that the incident took place in the Emergency and ARD staged agitation demanding deployment of staff. After this, Prof Jain, HOD IM promised that he would appoint more JRs and SRs in an emergency and keeping his words the department held interviews to fill 5 vacant posts in the department.
