Patient dies during transfer, family alleges ambulance delay at Chhattisgarh Hospital

Manendragarh- In a tragic incident, a 60-year-old woman allegedly died during transfer to a higher medical centre after an alleged delay in the availability of a Sanjeevani Express ambulance at the 220-bed Civil Hospital in Manendragarh, Chhattisgarh.
The deceased has been identified as Shyama Bai Yadav, a resident of Ledari Nagar Panchayat, who had been admitted to Manendragarh Civil Hospital after suffering a heart attack.
According to the family, when the patient's condition deteriorated, doctors referred her to Dr Bhimrao Ambedkar Memorial Hospital in Raipur for advanced treatment. The doctors referred the patient around 6 PM and requested a '108' ambulance for the transfer, as reported by ETV Bharat.
The family alleged that despite repeated appeals, the ambulance finally arrived at midnight. However, the patient died while being transported in the vehicle to Raipur.
Following her death, the family members staged a protest inside the hospital premises with her body in the ambulance and demanded action against those responsible for the alleged negligence.
The family also questioned the hospital administration's response and alleged that senior health department officials were unaware of the incident.
However, the protest ended only after hospital authorities assured the family of appropriate action. The hospital administration has stated that strict action will be taken against any employee found responsible for negligence, based on the findings of the inquiry.
The police were immediately informed and deployed to maintain law and order.
Meanwhile, the Health Department has constituted a three-member inquiry committee, comprising two doctors and a clerk, to investigate the allegations.
"An inquiry is being conducted into the negligence related to ambulance services. Anyone found guilty during the investigation will face action as per rules, and no one will be spared," said Shyam Bihari Jaiswal.
