FAIMA announces New National Executive Council, Dr Akshay Dongardive elected National President

New Delhi: The Federation of All India Medical Association (FAIMA) has announced the formation of its new National Executive and General Body Council, with Dr. Akshay Dongardive appointed as the National President for this session.
The appointment has been made following a comprehensive General Body and Executive Meeting. The session focused on finalising key leadership appointments and streamlining organisational structure, with decisions made through in-depth deliberations and consensus voting among attending members.
Dr. Akshay Dongardive is pursuing his MD in Community Medicine at Nair Hospital, Mumbai, and has held key leadership positions such as the General Secretary of BMC MARD and President of MARD Nair Hospital.
Talking to Medical Dialogues, he stated, “Over the last few years, I’ve led several successful movements and protests focused on improving the working conditions, safety, and rights of resident doctors, including strikes for stipend hikes, better hostels, and justice in cases of violence against doctors. My team and I also advocated for long-term solutions like hospital security SOPs, and awareness about Central Protection Act. Beyond activism, I’m deeply involved in public health, entrepreneurship, and digital innovation in healthcare.”
“I believe in thinking differently and bringing meaningful change to society — whether through policy, community action, or digital transformation. My goal has always been to amplify the voices of frontline healthcare workers, advocate for systemic change, and ensure healthcare becomes more equitable and efficient in India,” he further added. When asked about the recent plans of the association, he stated, “We are trying to address issues of all health workers. We will take action for issues of violence against medical workers, deplorable living conditions in hostels, and pending salaries. Not only doctor-related problems, but we arranged blood donation camps a few days ago, and also requested our members to be ready to extend service following the Indo-Pak war situation. We are also heralding a no-tobacco campaign amidst the alarming rise in tobacco-related diseases. ”
Dr. Rohan Krishnan was unanimously appointed as the National Chief Patron, while Dr. Sandeep Dagar has been named the National Patron. Leading the organization as the new National Chairman is Dr. Manish Jangra. In an advisory capacity, several experienced professionals have been selected as Chief Advisors. These include Dr. Suvrankar Datta, Dr. Ayush Raj from Safdarjung Hospital, Dr. Nitin Bagdi from RML Hospital, Dr. Shweta from PGI Chandigarh, and Dr. Kumar Gaurv from BHU. The position of Co-Chairmen will be jointly held by Dr. V. Vignesh Rajendran of MMC Chennai, Dr. Brajesh Lahri from AIIMS Delhi, and Dr. Jaideep Kr. Choudhary of RIMS Ranchi, and Dr. Bibhu Anand from Gangaram Hospital in Delhi.
Regional Vice Presidents have also been appointed to ensure effective representation across zones. Dr. Dubyala Srinath (KMC Telangana) will oversee the South Zone, Dr. Vyakhya Gupta (AIIMS Patna) the East Zone, Dr. Dhawal Gameti (Ahmedabad) the West Zone, Dr. Divyansh Singh (KGMU Lucknow) the North Zone, and Dr. Kuldeep Gupta (GMC Bhopal) the Central Zone. The position of General Secretary will be jointly held by Dr. Tushar Sharma (MAMC Delhi), Dr. Jupi Talukdar (SCTIMST Kerala), Dr. Ramandeep Singh (GMC Patiala), and Dr. Dharmendra Kumar Singh (JNMMC Raipur).
“This restructured body aims to strengthen FAIMA’s role in representing doctors’ voices across the nation and enhancing coordination between zones for better healthcare advocacy and medical education reforms. The organization reaffirms its commitment to stand by every doctor across the country and address their concerns with urgency, unity, and resolve,” FAIMA stated in a press release.
