Cooch Behar: In an unfortunate incident, a 22-year-old nursing student allegedly committed suicide by consuming a harmful substance at her residence in Vivekananda Street, Shyam Sunder Colony area of Cooch Behar on Sunday evening.
It appears that she was under extreme stress due to her studies, as a suicide note recovered from the scene revealed that she was struggling with study-related stress.
The student took her life by consuming poison when her mother left for the market in the evening. Noticing her worsening condition, her family members rushed her to MJN Medical College and Hospital in Cooch Behar but she failed to survive and was pronounced dead.

Meanwhile, the family members of the deceased have claimed that she may have taken her own life for other reasons, as they discovered suspicious text messages on her mobile device.
Following this, a case has been registered and the police have launched an investigation into the case.
Speaking to mp, the brother of the deceased said, “Our family relies solely on our mother’s pension. My sister was pursuing a nursing degree. We are perplexed and deeply concerned about the reasons behind her drastic step. Furthermore, text messages on her mobile have fueled suspicions, suggesting there may be more to this tragedy than meets the eye.”
Medical Dialogues team had previously reported that a second-year nursing student of Seth Sukhlal Karnani Memorial (SSKM) Hospital in the city allegedly committed suicide by hanging herself in a locked washroom of her hostel on the hospital premises in south Kolkata.
