New Delhi: The Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) under the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) has permitted candidates allotted seats in Round 1 of the National Eligibility and Entrance Test Postgraduate (NEET PG) 2025 All India Quota (AIQ) counselling to resign their seats.

According to the official notice issued by the MCC in this regard, the decision was made after multiple State Counselling Authorities sought a two-day postponement of the AIQ Round-2 counselling due to delays in their respective first rounds. Following this, several postgraduate candidates requested to resign from their Round-1 AIQ seats after securing admissions through state counselling.

Therefore, the MCC has announced that the resignation facility will be open till tomorrow i.e. December 10, 2025, 6:00 PM in online mode. Candidates wishing to resign must physically report to their allotted college to vacate their seats. The respective institutions are required to update all resignations on the MCC’s intramcc portal, failing which the resignations will be treated as “Null & Void”.

The decision aims to ensure that resigned seats from Round-1 are made available for choice filling in Round-2 of AIQ counselling, allowing more eligible candidates to benefit from the available seat pool.

Through the notice, MCC emphasized that this step has been taken “in the larger interest of candidates” to prevent seat wastage and streamline the ongoing postgraduate medical admission process.
