Bhubaneswar: An Associate Professor of AIIMS Bhubaneswar has been issued a show-cause notice for allegedly producing a fake experience certificate during the time of faculty selection.

The doctor had joined AIIMS, Bhubaneswar in 2017 as an associate professor of the Burns and Plastic Surgery department. He has recently been asked to submit evidence of his previous service at a private Medical College and Hospital (MCH) in wake of a complaint moved against him with the AIIMS president, Professor Subrat Acharya.

According to the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) rules, a doctor needs to have a three-year working experience in order to be eligible to become an associate professor at AIIMS.

As per the complaint, the doctor was selected on the certificate he had provided showing a working experience of three years from 2010 till 2013 at the Hi-Tech Medical College. However, the certificate so provided was allegedly a false one since there was no department of plastic surgery in the said MCH during that time.

Accordingly, in the notice, the doctor has been asked to present the evidence of his previous working experience at the private medical college, which includes his documents like experience certificate, salary slips, and other related documents.

The person, who submits false information or forged documents, is responsible for the discrepancies and liable as per law. The next course of action will be decided after verification of the documents."

Meanwhile, the doctor has been given 10 days to reply to the notice.

"I will submit all the documents sought by the Director and reply to the notice within the time frame," he told TNIE.
