Bihar Shocker- Doctor dragged, tied to tree, beaten up for treating rape survivor's mother, video goes viral
Patna: In a shocking incident that triggered widespread outrage among both the medical community and the public, a doctor in Bihar's Gaya district was allegedly brutally assaulted, dragged, tied to a tree, and mercilessly beaten with iron rods and sticks until he bled. His only 'offence' was providing medical treatment to the mother of a rape survivor. The alleged heinous act and the situation in Bihar have been described as worse than the Taliban.
A disturbing video of the incident has gone viral on social media, showing the doctor bleeding and agonising in pain under the scorching sun as police personnel untied the rope. Shockingly, locals can be seen standing by, watching the horrifying scene unfold.
In the background, a girl's voice can be heard saying, “Maar ke sab nikal gaya, sir. Sab khada hoke bas muh dekhta hai sir, sharam bhi nahi lagta hai doctar sahab ke marte hain. (They beat him and fled, sir. Everyone just stood there watching, they aren’t even ashamed while beating doctor sahab)”.

According to media reports, the doctor was forcibly dragged out of the rape survivor’s house by five women and three men, reportedly relatives of the accused. The group stormed into the house, assaulted the survivor’s family members, and, upon spotting the doctor, assumed he was supporting them. Acting on that suspicion, they brutally assaulted him.
A total of 10 individuals have been booked in connection with the case, out of which three have been arrested on charges of attempt to murder.
The incident, which took place on Tuesday in a village under Maoist-hit Gurpa police station jurisdiction, has drawn sharp criticism from Bihar Leader of the Opposition Tejashwi Yadav, who shared the video and likened the state of law and order in Bihar to that of Taliban ruled Afghanistan.
According to the police, Dr. Jitendra Yadav had gone to the home of a gang-rape victim to give urgent medical attention to her mother. However, upon arriving, he was dragged from the house by some locals and violently attacked the doctor after tying him to a tree. The victim’s minor niece played a heroic role, alerting police after running from the scene and flagging down a Dial 112 emergency vehicle.
IANS has reported that the police arrived just in time, rescuing the injured doctor, who was first taken to Fatehpur CHC and later referred to Magadh Medical College due to the seriousness of his condition.
Sharing the video of the attack on social media, Tejashwi Yadav lambasted the Nitish Kumar government, saying, “The situation in Bihar is worse than the Taliban.” He added that the doctor who went to treat the mother of a rape victim was tied to a tree and beaten to a bloody pulp by the accused.
The Bihar LoP pointed out that in 20 years of the NDA’s “corrupt” rule, the police and administration have become incapable of preventing crime, catching criminals and ensuring justice, as the people are taking the law into their own hands.
"There is a chaotic situation in Bihar. The Chief Minister is unconscious, the government is drunk. Officers and ministers are busy looting the treasury and the administration is in disarray," he said in a post on 'X'.
While reports suggest that the doctor was brutally assaulted for providing medical treatment to the mother of a rape survivor, Wazirganj Sub-Divisional Police Officer Sunil Kumar Pandey denied any connection to the rape case. He claimed the attack started due to earlier land disputes and confirmed that the doctor is safe and recovering after being treated at a local hospital.
“Based on Jitendra’s statement, a case of attempt to murder has been registered against 10 named individuals, and efforts are underway to apprehend the accused,” the SDPO said, adding that three people had been arrested.
Meanwhile, the survivor’s mother alleged speaking to Indian Express said, “In 2021, some people raped my daughter. We named all the accused and filed a case at the Fatehpur police station. On May 30, we gave our testimony in court, and one person was arrested while the others are absconding. Angered by this, their families attacked us."
She further said, “As soon as he started administering saline water, around five women and three men barged into our house. They first beat my family, including my elderly mother and daughter, and then, under the misconception that the doctor was there to support us, dragged him out, tied him to a tree, and beat him mercilessly”.
