Vijayawada: The Andhra Pradesh Medical Council (APMC) has appointed Dr A. V. Subba Reddy as Chairman of its Foreign Medical Graduates (FMG) Committee and a member of its Anti-Quackery Committee.

The APMC has constituted nine special committees, with each comprising a chairman and two members. Under the new appointments, Dr Subba Reddy will head the FMG Committee while also serving on the Anti-Quackery Committee.

The appointments follow his victory in the Andhra Pradesh Medical Council elections conducted on February 9, 2026. Subsequently, during the council’s internal elections held on June 3, he was elected to the Working Committee after securing a 14-9 majority among the 23 members who cast their votes, reports Deccan Chronicle

Speaking about his priorities as chairman of the FMG Committee, Dr Subba Reddy stated that he would focus on problems related to regulatory and administrative issues faced by foreign medical graduates. He pointed out that several issues of FMGs have remained unresolved due to controversies in recent years, and he would actively seek permanent solutions to those problems. Dr Subba Reddy also stated that to form a proper guideline, he would consult with the National Medical Commission (NMC) in New Delhi, if necessary, reports The Daily.

As a member of the anti-quackery committee, Dr Subba Reddy said that keeping quality healthcare as the primary focus, he would relentlessly work with his fellow team members to stop the nuisance of quacks all through Andhra Pradesh.

Apart from this, Dr Subba Reddy serves as the National Organisational Secretary of the Federation of Private Hospitals and Nursing Homes Association of India (FPHNAI), State Vice-President of the Indian Medical Association (IMA), and an executive member of the Kurnool Medical College Old Students’ Association.

Medical Dialogues had earlier reported that after nearly two decades, the Andhra Pradesh Medical Council (APMC) election process was finally set to take place, with online voting scheduled for February 9.
