Rs 74 lakh forged certificate scam busted in Rajasthan, 3 FMGs arrested
Arrested
Jaipur: Three foreign medical graduates who allegedly paid a total of Rs 74 lakh for forged screening examination certificates to secure internships and medical registration have been arrested by the Special Operations Group (SOG) of Rajasthan Police.
The accused, aged between 28 and 30 years, are residents of Chomu, Deeg, and Kathumar in Alwar district. According to investigators, all three completed their MBBS degrees in Kazakhstan but failed to clear the mandatory Foreign Medical Graduate (FMG) screening examination required to practise medicine in India.
The SOG alleged that the accused obtained fake FMG certificates through an organised network and subsequently used them to secure internships at government medical colleges and registration with the Rajasthan Medical Council (RMC).
The arrests are part of a wider investigation into a suspected large-scale fake certification racket involving foreign medical graduates, middlemen, and officials associated with the Rajasthan Medical Council.
Medical Dialogues had previously reported that, observing that such frauds undermine the integrity of competitive exams and unfairly harm genuine, meritorious candidates competing through lawful means, the Rajasthan High Court has refused to grant bail to two medical graduates accused of being involved in a fake Foreign Medical Graduate Examination (FMGE) certificate scam.
Speaking to TOI, SOG officials said one of the accused paid Rs 24 lakh for a forged FMG certificate after repeatedly failing the screening examination. He subsequently secured an internship at the Government Medical College in Dausa. Likewise, another accused paid Rs 23 lakh for a similar certificate and completed his internship at the Government Medical College, Alwar. Investigators claim he later helped several other candidates obtain forged certificates through the network.
The third accused in the case allegedly paid Rs 27 lakh for a fake FMG certificate, which enabled him to obtain an internship at the Government Medical College in Hanumangarh.
Inspector General (SOG) Ajay Pal Lamba said that the investigation has so far identified more than 100 doctors who allegedly procured forged FMG certificates and used them to gain internships and registration with the RMC. Investigators suspect the racket was operated with the connivance of officials and employees within the RMC.
The case has already led to the arrest of a former RMC registrar, a UDC, an LDC, the alleged mastermind of the network, and 17 foreign medical graduates. According to SOG, the mastermind charged between Rs 20 lakh and Rs 30 lakh per candidate to arrange forged FMG certificates and facilitate registration with the RMC, reports TOI.
