Meerut: In a recent road accident, a First Information Report (FIR) has been registered against a 44-year-old ENT specialist after he allegedly lost control of his Mercedes SUV and the speeding car struck a labourer who was repainting divider walls on a bridge in the Pakbara area on the Lucknow-Delhi National Highway.

While the police stated that the doctor lost control of the vehicle and directly hit the worker, the doctor denied their statement saying that after he lost control of the car, it first hit the divider before hitting the worker.

As per a TOI news report, the victim was working with a group of others on the bridge when he lost his life in just a moment. Following the accident, the doctor was taken to the police station for questioning and was soon released after registration of the case.

The son of the deceased has expressed his dissatisfaction with the action taken against the doctor. Emphasising that his father was the family's sole breadwinner, he demanded justice and showed willingness to take the matter to the court.

He told TOI, "My father was the sole breadwinner of our family. The doctor's reckless driving took his life. Police have already released the accused. I will fight for justice in court. So far, no one from the NHAI has come forward to help us either."

SP (Moradabad City) Ranvijay Singh said, "The doctor, a resident of Moradabad, was driving the SUV at high speed. He lost control of the vehicle and hit Daya Chandra Singh, who was among a group of workers repainting the divider walls on a bridge in the Pakbara area."

During the preliminary investigation, the police initially suspected that the doctor might have been driving under the influence of alcohol, but this was ruled out as no evidence of intoxication was found.

A case was registered under BNS sections 281 (rash driving) and 106-1 (causing death by negligence) at Pakbara police station and the doctor has been booked in connection. Further, the police seized the vehicle from the scene.
