Bidar- In a shocking incident at the Bidar Institute of Medical Sciences (BRIMS), a mortuary attendant has been arrested for allegedly taking photographs of the bodies of deceased women during post-mortems and storing the images on his mobile phone.

The accused had reportedly been working in the mortuary department of the district hospital for several years.

The matter came to light after the hospital administration received information regarding the alleged misconduct, following which an internal inquiry was initiated. During the preliminary examination of the accused's mobile phone, several photographs of women's bodies were reportedly found.

Investigators are now determining whether the accused had been involved in similar activities for a long time and whether any of these photographs were shared with others.

After the matter came to light, Dr Mohsin-ul-Haq, Director of BRIMS, lodged a formal complaint at the New Town Police Station in Bidar. Based on the complaint, the police registered a case and arrested the accused for further investigation, according to The Hans India.

Meanwhile, police officials have seized the accused's mobile phone and are conducting a detailed forensic examination to ascertain the extent of the alleged misconduct. Officials are also investigating whether any other individuals were involved in these activities or were aware of them.

The police stated that the investigation is ongoing, and further action will be taken based on the evidence gathered during the inquiry.

This revelation has raised serious concerns regarding the violation of the deceased's privacy and dignity. The incident has sparked widespread outrage among hospital staff and the general public; many are questioning how such an act could possibly occur within a sensitive and restricted area like a mortuary. The matter has also underscored the need for strict supervision and regulation of the staff working in post-mortem facilities.

Many have demanded strict action against the accused and emphasised the need for more stringent security measures to safeguard the dignity of the deceased in government hospitals.
