Delhi: After the agitation at Hindu Rao Hospital and Kasturba Hospital, now the senior doctors from hospitals under the administration of the North Delhi Municipal Corporation (NDMC) on Thursday have also decided to start their agitation from next week demanding Dearness Allowance (DA) and due salary.

The senior doctors will also boycott OPD services until authorities take some steps to solve the issue.

However, the emergency services will not be affected. The Secretary of Municipal Corporation Doctors' Association Dr Maruti Sinha told Medical Dialogues, " it was decided in a general body meeting that senior doctors would stop their work to raise voice over to highlight the issue of timely disbursement of all salaries, arrears and revision of DA."

" Almost 1,000 senior doctors across all NDMC hospitals those under the north civic body will go on strike. We have previously written letters to authorities including the PM and we waited for a permanent solution but in vain. Hence, now we will start our protest and we will be on strike until our demands are fulfilled," she added.

Previously Medical Dialogues reported that resident doctors of NDMC-run Hindu Rao Hospital went on an indefinite strike from Monday. Their salaries have been pending for months and DA, five months. The doctors of the Municipal Corporation Doctor's Association (MCDA) have submitted a letter requesting the Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi to take necessary steps to solve the issue.

In the letter written to PM, the association stated, " Senior service Doctors of MCD have to repeatedly protest for payment of their salaries despite it being their legitimate right, which has not been paid to them for the past two months. North MCD is neither able to manage funds for salary payments to its Health workers nor it is willing to hand over the Health Services to Central Government or State Government as advised by Hon'ble High Court, Delhi. Furthermore, it appears as if all higher authorities/ Institutions of this country are more helpless than us in ensuring timely payment of salaries to doctors & other healthcare workers."
Meanwhile, resident doctors of Hindu Rao Hospital and Kasturba Hospital of Delhi have demanded timely payment of the dues and pending Dearness Allowance (DA's). While the doctors of Hindu Rao hospital went on an indefinite hunger strike starting from 22nd November, the doctors of Kasturba Hospital have confirmed that they will also boycott services from 26th November.
