UP: Maharajganj CMO inspects CHC, pulls up doctors over late attendance

Maharajganj: The Chief Medical Officer (CMO) of Maharajganj has reprimanded doctors at the Community Health Centre (CHC) in Partawal following complaints of late attendance and unavailability during duty hours. He has directed them to ensure their timely availability for outpatient services.
During a surprise inspection of the CHC's emergency ward on Sunday, the CMO reviewed the functioning of the facility and took note of complaints that doctors were frequently unavailable during scheduled OPD hours and duty shifts. He directed the doctors to maintain punctuality and ensure that patients received timely medical attention.
During the inspection, a patient who had consumed poison was brought to the emergency ward for treatment. The CMO sought details about the patient's condition and the treatment being provided from the attending doctor. He also advised the doctor on further management and instructed the staff to ensure that the patient received all necessary medical care.
The CMO also reviewed the treatment arrangements for a woman who had delivered a stillborn baby on Sunday. After assessing her condition, he directed the hospital staff to shift her from the emergency ward to a private room in the women's wing.
He further instructed the hospital administration to ensure proper treatment, regular monitoring and adequate security for the woman. Additionally, he directed that a female staff nurse be assigned regular duty to oversee her health and ensure her safety.
Emphasising accountability among healthcare personnel, the CMO said every patient visiting the facility must receive timely medical attention. He warned that negligence in performing assigned duties and indifference towards patient care would not be tolerated, Bhaskar English reported.
Several doctors, nursing staff, pharmacists and other hospital employees were present during the inspection.
