Woman dies at Amethi Hospital, family protests over alleged negligence

Amethi: A 60-year-old woman died while undergoing treatment at Sanjay Gandhi Hospital in Munshiganj, Amethi, following which her family members protested at the hospital and alleged medical negligence.
According to the news reports, the woman, a resident of Madhuapur village, was admitted to the hospital at around 11 p.m. on Saturday. Following her death, her son accused the doctors of negligence, alleging that his mother did not receive timely diagnosis and treatment. The family said they wanted justice and not financial compensation.

Following the incident, family members protested at the hospital. Police personnel reached the spot and tried to pacify the family and restore order.
Circle Officer Akhilesh Verma said that after the woman's death, the family created a ruckus. They were pacified by persuasion, reports Amar Ujala.
However, the hospital gave a different account of the incident. Speaking to Dainik Bhaskar, Dr. Nitin Pandey said that the woman had high blood sugar and died of a heart attack. He stated that a test had been scheduled for 11 p.m. but was conducted at around 12 noon on Sunday.
The family later took the body home for cremation without undergoing a post-mortem examination.
The deceased is survived by her husband, two sons and five daughters. Four of her daughters are married, while the youngest is unmarried. The exact circumstances surrounding the woman's death remain subject to verification.
Medical Dialogues had previously reported that medical negligence has been alleged by the family of a woman who died after her health deteriorated while undergoing IVF treatment at a private fertility centre in Guwahati. The deceased, a resident of Rahmaria in Chabua, had reportedly been undergoing IVF-related treatment at Indira IVF Centre in Lachit Nagar since May.
