Final year MBBS student found dead in Gauhati Medical College Hostel, Police suspects suicide
Assam: In an unfortunate incident, a 23-year-old MBBS student was spotted dead in the hostel campus of Gauhati Medical College on Monday night. The initial investigation by the police suggests that the medical student committed suicide by jumping off from the balcony of his hostel, but it is not confirmed as of yet.
The deceased was identified as a final year MBBS student of Guwahati medical college and he was staying in the hostel.
Though the police officials suspected this case to be suicide, they have not reached to the conclusion yet. The body of the medico was sent for a post mortem and has been delivered to the family of the medico. The post-mortem report is yet to come.
GMC principal Dr Achyut Baishya told Nenow daily, "What happened is very unfortunate. We are looking into what happened. Cannot share more details now."
Confirming the news of the tragic demise of the medico, Karuna Sharma, officer-in-charge of Bhangagarh Police Station informed G Plus that "The student might have jumped from the balcony. Initial inquest suggests suicide but the post mortem report is yet to come. The boy's family has taken the body back."
Medical Dialogues had earlier reported about the suicide attempt case of Indore based MBBS student. MBBS student allegedly attempted suicide by jumping off from the third floor of a mall in Indore. The medico suffered multiple fractures and head injuries and is currently undergoing treatment in MY Hospital.
