Medical student from Kerala drowns at Gokarna Beach

Karnataka: The body of a medical student, who went missing while swimming in the sea, was found at Gokarna beach recently.
The deceased has been identified as 22 year old medical student from Kerala.
She was a medical student studying in a college in Koppal and had come to Gokarna on a trip with her friends, according to Udayavani report.
According to the police, the girl and another student, were swept away by the strong waves while swimming in the sea. The lifeguards present on the spot immediately attempted rescue. The other student was successfully brought ashore, but the girl could not be located despite continued search efforts, reports Udayavani.
Meanwhile, the female medical student's body was recovered at around 2 am on Monday morning. Her body was kept in the mortuary of Karwar District Hospital, where a post-mortem was conducted before handing it over to her family. However, a case has been registered in Gokarna police station.
The students went on a trip to Dandeli-Gokarna and Murdeshwara in Uttara Kannada with a 23-member student group after giving their final MBBS exams. The trip was organised by Chennai-based Vettri Tours and Travels.
After visiting Dandeli and Vibhuti Falls near Yana, the students visited Gokarna. However, while watching the sunset at Jatayu Teerth near Kudle Beach in Gokarna, both students were swept away due to the strong current on April 24 at around 5.30 p.m.
