17 year old Lucknow aspirant allegedly commits suicide, family claims NEET re-exam pressure

Lucknow: A 17-year-old NEET aspirant allegedly committed suicide in Lucknow. The student was reportedly depressed after the cancellation of NEET exam held on May 3.
The student took the extreme step on Tuesday, ahead of the NEET re-exam scheduled for June 21.
The girl was found hanging from a fan in her house, Station House Officer of Bazar Khala police station Brijesh Singh told PTI, adding no suicide note was recovered.
The family members of the deceased told police that she had performed well in the May 3 NEET-UG examination, which was cancelled, and she was hopeful of clearing it. However, after cancellation of the examination, she had slipped into a depression.
“She was in a state of depression for two to four days, after which she again started preparing for the examination. Family members also said that she was under pressure due to the examination,” Singh said.

Medical Dialogues recently reported that Three days before the NEET UG re-examination, a 17 year old NEET aspirant allegedly committed suicide by jumping from the sixth floor of a residential apartment building in the New Ranip area of Gujarat's Ahmedabad.
According to the police, the preliminary investigation has not found any clear reason behind the boy's extreme step. There was no indication that he had shared any concerns or stress related to the cancellation of the NEET exam due to the paper leak. Family members have also denied that he was under any pressure to perform well in the examination.
In another tragic incident, a 19 year old preparing for NEET entrance examination allegedly committed suicide in Tamil Nadu's Coimbatore district.
The deceased had reportedly appeared for the NEET examination twice and was preparing for another attempt. According to police, she was upset about having to retake the examination after the recent NEET question paper leak controversy.
