Varanasi: Hospital director shoots self dead
Varanasi: A renowned doctor and director of a private hospital in Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh has allegedly committed suicide by shooting himself dead with his licensed gun inside the washroom of his house in Kaivalyadham colony of Bhelupur late on Sunday night.
The deceased has been identified as a 53 year-old physician. As per people close to the doctor, he had been depressed ever since his father, who was also a doctor had passed away due to COVID, reports Times of India.
On the other hand, ACP, Bhelupur, Pravin Kumar Singh stated, "We are investigating the matter after sending the body for post-mortem. Following the initial investigation, it is suspected that the doctor was upset over some family issue."

Meanwhile, police have taken the weapon used in the suicide and the body has been sent for post-mortem. Cops are further exploring all possibilities, including questioning the family, the hospital staff and close associates, reports The News Agency.
Investigation was launched after the police, on late Sunday night, received an alert that the doctor had shot himself after locking himself in the washroom from inside.
Singh told TOI, "His family members immediately took him to a hospital, where doctors declared him dead."
