Firing at GSVM Medical College campus, PG hostel mess staff shot

Kanpur: An instance of firing inside the Ganesh Shankar Vidyarthi Medical College (GSVM) campus was reported in Kanpur on Sunday night, wherein, a mess staff of the PG hostel of the facility was paralyzed after being shot in the neck.

As per various media accounts, the victim entered in a brawl with the accused (his associates) while drinking alcohol and in a fit of rage the accused shot him in the neck. Immediately his feet went numb and he was rushed to the hospital in a critical condition conditional.

Meanwhile, the Principal, Professor Sanjay Kala took stock of the patient's condition on Monday and spoke to Neurosurgeon Dr. Manish Singh regarding the condition of the patient.

As per a recent media report by Divya Bharat, the sister of the man (victim) who runs the mess in PG hostel of the medical college, claimed that at 7.30 pm, the cleaning workers of GSVM's Girls Hostel were accompanying his brother. Everyone drank alcohol together outside one of the worker's houses in the medical college campus itself; however, an argument started between them. The conflict soon escalated and went out of control so much that one of them shot her brother. After being shot in the neck, his brother screamed and fell to the ground. Everyone present there rushed his brother to Halat Emergency and escaped.
An inquiry committee has been constituted in view of the incident. Arrangements are being made to enhance the security of the premises also. The accused who carried out the crime is absconding. The principal said that the spinal cord has been damaged and the neck bone broke due to the bullet. Resultantly, the motor power of the foot has become zero and he has been paralyzed, reports Amar Ujala. He is the sole bread earner of his family.
Further action will be taken on the report of the committee. The committee will investigate the three-four people involved in the incident. Further, the security of the premises will reportedly be increased. The college will get 54 guards from Sainik Welfare Board. Along with this, the police will also patrol the premises.
According to the daily, on the complaint of victim's sister, the police have registered a case of " attempt to murder " against his friend who allegedly attacked him. ACP Swaroopnagar Mahendra Singh Deo said that search operations are being conducted to nab the accused. His acquaintances are being questioned as well.
