Goa CM inaugurates Sanyog ISM Yoga Summit 2026 for healthy ageing

Dr Pramod Sawant
Panaji: Goa Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant inaugurated the Sanyog ISM Yoga Summit 2026 in Dona Paula, focusing on the theme “Yoga for Healthy Ageing”. The summit was organised by the Goa Council of Ayurvedic and Other Allied Indian Systems of Medicine in association with the Department of Ayush.
In a Facebook post, Dr Sawant said the summit served as a platform for experts, doctors, researchers and wellness practitioners to deliberate on yoga, Ayurveda and preventive healthcare. The summit aimed to highlight the role of traditional Indian systems of medicine in promoting wellness and supporting healthier ageing.
As part of the programme, doctors, clinics and hospitals were felicitated for their contribution to the “Health with Ayurveda - Checked by Doctor 2.0” campaign. According to the organisers, more than 40,000 citizens have benefited from the initiative through ayurvedic consultations, health screenings and wellness guidance.
Addressing the gathering, Dr Sawant said yoga and Ayurveda have gained wider global recognition in recent years and continue to reflect India’s wellness traditions. He said Goa is contributing to this movement through initiatives in preventive healthcare, wellness tourism and integrated health systems.

The summit also provided a platform for stakeholders to exchange views on expanding access to ayurvedic care and strengthening public awareness about preventive health practices. Discussions focused on the importance of combining traditional knowledge with structured healthcare delivery to improve community well-being.
Officials and participants noted that such initiatives can support healthier lifestyles, particularly among ageing populations, by encouraging regular wellness practices and early health guidance. The event underlined the growing relevance of yoga and Ayurveda in public health, wellness promotion and preventive care.
The programme concluded with a call for continued collaboration among healthcare professionals, wellness institutions and government agencies to promote accessible, evidence-informed and preventive health services across the state.
