Lucknow: Paying tribute to the former Chief Minister (CM) of the State, Kalyan Singh, who passed away recently, the Uttar Pradesh Government has decided to rename two medical institutes of the State including Lucknow's Super Specialty Cancer Institute and Bulandshahr's medical college after the former CM.

Confirmation to this effect came from the CM's Office on Thursday.

With this, the two institutes will now be known as Kalyan Singh Rajkiya Medical College, Bulandshahr and Kalyan Singh Super Speciality Cancer Institute, Chak Ganjaria, Lucknow.

On Thursday, the CM's office announced renaming two of its medical colleges after the late Kalyan Singh.

PTI reports that a tweet by CM office said, "Saluting the public service offered by Kalyan Singh and going by public sentiments, CM Yogi Adityanath has decided to rename state medical college in Bulandshahr and Cancer Institute in Lucknow after Kalyan Singh."

Media advisor to CM, Mritunjay Kumar in a tweet here said that," Paying tribute to former CM Kalyan Singh ji's public service, #UPCM Shri @myogiadityanath ji has decided to rename Government Medical College, Bulandshahr and Super Specialty Cancer Institute, Chak Ganjariya, Lucknow after Late Kalyan Singh ji."

Officials at the CMO have informed Hindustan Times, "Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has decided to name Bulandshahr's medical college and Lucknow's Super Speciality Cancer Institute after Kalyan Singh. After the decision, the two institutes would now be known as Kalyan Singh Rajkiya Medical College, Bulandshahr and Kalyan Singh Super Speciality Cancer Institute, Chak Ganjaria, Lucknow."
Singh, who was ailing for some time, died at the Sanjay Gandhi Post Graduate Institute of Medical Sciences (SGPGI) here on August 21. He was 89.

This has come shortly after the announcement of the Government to rename the road to Ramjanambhoomi and 5 other roads and the airport in Aligarh in honour of late chief minister Kalyan Singh.

Earlier on August 23, Yogi Adityanath had announced the renaming of the Aligarh airport on Kalyan Singh, reports UNI.

Similarly, state Deputy Chief Minister Keshav Prasad Maurya said here on Monday that the road leading to Ram Janmbhoomi in Ayodhya will be named after former UP CM Kalyan Singh.
